The Functions Of A Freehand Brace

By Eliza Mendoza

Freehand brace is a rubber like materials that are worn on the arm, wrist, fingers, elbows, over the forearm and arm. They were developed in the past as small clothing that was worn on different parts of the arm. They have been improved with time to better qualities. The earlier ones could be said to be inelastic but the modern ones are very flexible.

These pieces of rubber come in different sizes. The piece that is worn around the elbow is not the same as that which is worn around the thumb. People have different arm sizes and hence this is put to consideration. They also come in an array of colors but most people like the ones that are dull in color.

The exercise of manufacturing is done in a step wise manner. The fabric to be used is first assembled. Most times, it is purchased from fabric making companies. This is cheaper as compared from buying from retail or wholesale traders. For the case of cotton it is purchased from cotton gins. The textile to be used is analyzed and confirmed to be authentic and of good quality.

The rubber is then cut into smaller pieces . The pieces will be determined by where they are expected to be fitted into. The cutting is done specialized machines. Thereafter, the rubber is then wound to form a circular shape. These in fits are normally circular in shape. The two free ends of the wound rubber are stuck with glue to ensure that they are closely adherent. The glued part is then melted together to ensure the stuck edges become a common unit.

The melting is to offer strong attachment to the two edges. The melting is done by slight exposure to a regulated flame. The raw in fits are died. Basic colors are added to improve their outward appearance. They are then packed into cartons they are later sold to retail and wholesale sellers.

Theses in fits have merits. They help to treat bone abnormalities. Individuals who have mallet fingers are advised to put them on. They help in bone remodeling and hence straighten curved fingers. They are comfortable for activities such as writing. Secretaries whose job is writing many drafts require them. They help reduce the friction.

They have disadvantages. Hand in fits may lead to infections. Since they are rubber, they are hard to clean. Dust may therefore accumulate around them. If an individual has a cut on a finger and has the finger in fit in it, there are chances of an infection to the cut finger.

A freehand Brace has more merits than demerits. It has now been recommended in the treatment of osteoarthritis. They treat this ailment by relieving the stress on bone . This allows bone remodeling to take place. However the ones used in treatment have aluminum as a component of the in fit.
